7 years ago I started down a miserable path of depression and hate; I turned to drugs as my way of escape. It started with small stuff like cigarettes and marijuana but then led to pills and alcohol… I have been in and out of mental institutes, battling with depression, and even contemplating suicide. I finally reached a tipping point and had made up my mind to take my life. I gave God an ultimatum, “Either you do something or I will”. He did something alright! He answered within 24 hours. The very next day my mom’s fiancé came home with a Project Hope pamphlet and a “Believe” bracelet Project Hope sells. He told me he believes in me and he wants me to believe in myself. For once my life had a glimmer of hope and I built up the courage long enough to pick up the phone and call. Within two weeks I was in the ministry, and God showed up and started to do amazing things not only in my life but in my family’s lives as well. He has made me into a new person completely; He used Project Hope to do it.
The scripture I stand on is Galatians 5:1, “It is for freedom that Christ Has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
Today Chelsea has fully completed the Project Hope program. She now works in our administration office helping schedule our ministry teams. She is an amazing story of success and an example to others of God’s mercy and love. We are very proud of you, Chelsea!
